Career Center

School of Law hosts inaugural Public Defenders Career Fair

Friday, October 19, 2018
Center for Tomorrow (CFT)
University at Buffalo, Buffalo, NY 14228
1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

In April 2017, New York State enacted statewide reforms to improve the right to counsel for people charged with a criminal offense and who cannot afford to hire an attorney. These recent legislative reforms offer public defense providers across the state the opportunity to hire additional attorneys, investigators, social workers and support staff, and develop other resources to further their efforts in improving the overall quality of mandated representation.

In recognition of this exciting chapter in our state’s history of indigent defense, the law school will host the first New York State Public Defenders Job Fair, offering law students and recent graduates a forum to learn about public defense opportunities across New York State. Public defenders offices will travel to Buffalo, NY to participate in this inaugural career fair and to conduct on-site interviews for internships and employment opportunities. All attendees must register to participate. Register Today!

Alumni & Giving

Support the UB Fund for Law.

From Dean Aviva Abramovsky:

“How Can I Help?” This has been the most frequent question asked by our alumni throughout my first full year as dean. And you have stepped up to help in so many different ways – you have not let me down.

Thanks to the continued support of alumni like you over the last year, we have invested even more in successful outcomes for our students, through scholarships, programs, summer fellowships and so much more. But there is much more to be done, and your support is vital to helping us do so. Our mission has never been more important. Solutions to 21st century legal issues require lawyers to see beyond boundaries, to analyze and innovate, to be bold and fearless. We need attorneys – UB School of Law educated attorneys – who advocate effectively, ensure justice for the underserved, drive our economy, and anticipate future challenges.

The growth of our programs and the successes of our students are a direct result of your financial support. Please make an annual donation to the UB Fund for Law today. Together, we will make a UB law school education even greater, even stronger, even bolder.
