01/09/2018 - The Christian Science Monitor interviewed Professor James Gardner for a story about a federal bill that would force all states to abide by each other’s gun permit laws.


12/22/2017 - A ProPublica article on the increasing rate of life-threatening complications for new mothers in the U.S. quotes Professor Lucinda Finley. Finley discusses the legal impact of tort law on women suffering complications related to pregnancy or childbirth. The article was distributed to more than 90 news partners.

Thank you to our 125 mentors for volunteering to contribute their time and expertise to our law students. We hope the experience will be valuable and enjoyable for everyone.

Mentors will be meeting their first year law students at a Mentor Matching Reception sponsored by Bond Schoeneck & King and the Law Alumni Association on January 31, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Center for Tomorrow on UB's North Campus.

Judges Needed

The Advocacy Institute seeks volunteer judges for our Wechsler competition taking place on March14. CLE credit will be given to eligible volunteers. Details and information on how to sign up can be found online.

Erie County Surrogate Judge Barbara Howe '80 to receive the School of Law and the UB Law Alumni Association's highest honor

Jan 26 - Hon. Barbara Howe, a member of the law school’s Class of 1980, will accept the Jaeckle award at the School of Law’s annual New York City Alumni Luncheon to be held at noon at the Union League Club in Manhattan during the week of the New York State Bar Association's annual meeting.
